Sungrow SG Series

(For all Sungrow SG-Series inverters using a WiFi dongle)

1. Check the WiFi signal at your inverter

  • Stand beside your Sungrow inverter with your phone and confirm your home WiFi network appears in the list.
  • If your WiFi isn’t visible from this location, you’ll need a WiFi extender or a wired LAN connection (supported on most CX models).
  • The inverter can only connect if it can detect your home network from where it’s installed.

2. Restart the inverter if it recently dropped offline

  • Turn AC OFF using the main solar AC isolator near your switchboard.
  • Turn DC OFF using the isolator beneath or beside the inverter.
  • Wait one minute until all lights and the screen shut down completely.
  • Turn DC ON, then AC ON again.
  • Give the inverter a few minutes to reboot, then check whether the NET or WLAN light turns solid green.
  • If it doesn’t reconnect, continue with the next steps.

3. Turn on the inverter’s WiFi hotspot

  • On the WiFi dongle, press the multifunction button three times quickly.
  • This puts the inverter into hotspot mode so your phone can connect directly.

4. Connect your device to the Sungrow hotspot

  • Open the iSolarCloud app.
  • Tap Support from the bottom menu.
  • Select Local Access.
  • Under Commissioning Tools, tap Local Access again.

5. Scan the QR code

  • A camera screen labelled “Scan to Connect” will appear.
  • Scan the QR code on the Sungrow WiFi dongle.
  • When your phone prompts you to join the inverter hotspot, tap Join.

6. Enter login credentials

  • When the identity verification page appears, use the default login:
    • Account: user
    • Password: pw1111
  • Tap Verification to continue.

7. Connect the inverter to your home WiFi

  • Once inside the local settings, tap More on the bottom menu.
  • Select WLAN Configuration.
  • This will open the WiFi setup page.
  • A list of nearby networks will display — choose your home WiFi name and enter your password.
  • Save the settings to confirm.

8. Check the connection

  • The app will notify you once the WiFi link is established.
  • Your Sungrow inverter’s WLAN light should now be solid blue, meaning it is online with a stable connection.

Troubleshooting if it won’t connect

  • Make sure your router’s 2.4 GHz WiFi band is active — Sungrow inverters do not support 5 GHz.
  • Check that the WiFi password is correct, including capitals and special characters.
  • If the inverter doesn’t appear during setup, repeat Step 3 to re-enable hotspot mode.
  • For commercial installations, a wired LAN connection is usually the best option.
  • If issues continue, restart your inverter and router, or contact your installer or Sungrow Service.
