Sungrow SG Series

Restarting can often clear WiFi issues, communication dropouts, or minor fault codes. Sungrow systems must be powered down and restarted in the correct sequence to protect the equipment and ensure a safe reset.

Before you begin

  • Restart during daylight hours, as the inverter needs solar input to power up.
  • Check for any signs of damage, loose wiring, or faulty isolators before proceeding.
  • If your Sungrow inverter is part of a hybrid system, confirm the battery is idle and not running a backup mode.
  • Avoid restarting during lightning activity or if any components look damaged.

1. Turn off the AC isolator

  • Find the Solar Supply Main Switch or AC isolator located near the inverter or your switchboard.
  • Switch it OFF.

2. Turn off the DC isolator

  • Locate the PV Array DC Isolator under or beside the inverter and switch it OFF.

3. Wait 1–2 minutes

  • Allow the inverter to fully power down — all lights and the display should switch off.
  • This pause ensures internal components discharge and the system resets correctly.

4. Turn the DC isolator ON

  • Switch the DC isolator ON and wait around five seconds.

5. Turn the AC isolator ON

  • Switch the AC isolator back ON.

6. Allow the inverter to reboot

  • The inverter will run internal system checks and restore communications.
  • After a few minutes:
    • A green power light means the inverter is generating.

    • A solid green NET/WLAN light indicates a working WiFi connection.

7. Confirm normal operation

  • Open your iSolarCloud app to ensure generation and communication data are updating correctly.
  • If a warning returns after the restart, note the displayed fault code before contacting your installer or Sungrow Support.

Tips

  • Avoid doing multiple restarts too quickly — always wait 1–2 minutes between shutdown and startup.
  • If the unit won’t power up again, check that the DC isolator and PV strings are switched on and that there’s daylight.
  • If faults persist after a proper restart, contact your installer or Sungrow Technical Support.
